Bob Fisher, Interim Director of the Teamsters Airline Division, has responded to the FAA’s decision to heighten its surveillance of United Airlines with the following remarks:

“The Teamsters Airline Division, along with the 10,000 technicians and maintenance staff we advocate for across the nation at United Airlines, consistently upholds the FAA’s rigorous standards for aircraft safety. Our members, who represent a wide array of roles within the airline industry from cleaners to pilots, demonstrate unwavering commitment to detail, safety, compliance, and professionalism in their work.

“United Airlines technicians will continue to provide the highest level of safety to all crewmembers and passengers because they believe in these standards to their core. We look forward to our continued work with federal agencies on improving aviation safety.”

“Our technicians, whose qualifications are paramount, are reminded daily of the necessity to align their work with both the stringent criteria of their employers and the FAA. This adherence to high standards by Teamsters aviation mechanics is a cornerstone of what has become the safest period in aviation history.
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, established in 1903, serves 1.3 million diligent individuals in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.”
