FG lists UNESCO gains on tourism conference

The Federal Government says that the recently concluded global tourism conference arranged at the National Theatre, Lagos, was a huge achievement with massive takeaways for Nigeria.


Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, on Monday made an announcement in Abuja when he was featured in the program of Nigeria Television Authority with the name Good Morning – Nigeria! It’s observed by the News Agency of Nigeria.


Nigeria arranged the UNWTO’s first global conference on -Linking tourism, culture and the creative industry: Pathways to recovery and inclusive development, from Nov. 14th and continued till Nov. 16th in Lagos.


While reassessing the conference, the minister said that for the first time UNWTO would reflect on culture, tourism and the creative industry.


Also, it was the first time that any event was arranged at the revamped structure of National Arts Theatre since its phased rehabilitation.


Mohammed stated that the conference, announced opened by Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the vice-president, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari was partaken by at least eight ministers from Africa and participants from 60 different countries.


By all standards, it was victorious and they succeeded to display a world class venue that has the facility to arrange regional events as well as events of global standard, comparable to anywhere the world.


Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, said that they were also able to showcase the culture, tourism potentials of Nigeria, and its creative industry to the extent that the UNWTO’s secretary general he felt sorry for not coming with his family members to Nigeria.
