Flydubai, headquartered in Dubai, received recognition in two categories at the Aviation Achievement Awards. The airline was honored with the title of “Airline of the Year,” and its cargo division was acknowledged for its “Outstanding Contribution to the Air Cargo Sector.” These awards mark the carrier’s first achievements in 2024, following its previous accolades.

Francois Oberholzer, the Chief Financial Officer at flydubai, accepted the awards on behalf of the carrier during the ceremony held in Dubai, attended by prominent figures from the travel and aviation sectors.

This accomplishment underscores flydubai’s agile business model, operational efficiencies, and appealing product offerings, showcasing its ongoing dedication to enhancing customer experience and challenging industry norms. Furthermore, it acknowledges flydubai Cargo’s commitment to innovation and investment in cutting-edge technologies to facilitate seamless trade flows regionally and globally.

Francois Oberholzer, Chief Financial Officer at flydubai, commented on the awards: “we are pleased to have been recognised as ‘Airline of the Year’ and for our ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Air Cargo Sector’ at this year’s Aviation Achievement Awards. The two awards reflect the continued investment in our products and services and our commitment to providing the right product at the right time. As we continue to elevate our inflight experience and grow our network, we look forward to connecting more people to more underserved destinations and supporting Dubai’s position as a leading international aviation hub.”

Flydubai recently announced a record-breaking profit of AED 2.1 billion (USD 572 million) for the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2023, marking its most robust performance to date.

During 2024, flydubai broadened its network by launching new flights to Mombasa in Kenya, along with Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia. Moreover, the airline disclosed its intentions to initiate services to five additional destinations: Basel, Riga, Sochi (seasonal), Tallinn, and Vilnius.
Presently, the carrier boasts a rapidly expanding network of over 125 destinations across 58 countries, served by a modern and efficient fleet comprising 85 Boeing 737 aircraft.
