Dubai’s prominent airline, flydubai, recently garnered the prestigious “Airline of the Year” accolade at the Aviator Middle East Awards, previously known as The Aviation Business Middle East Awards. The honor was received by Daniel Kerrison, flydubai’s Senior Vice President of Inflight Operations, during a prestigious event in Dubai, attended by notable figures from the aviation and travel sectors.

This accolade, determined by a panel of industry specialists, recognizes airlines for their exceptional dedication to passenger satisfaction, safety, innovation, and operational excellence within the region. flydubai earned this recognition for its exemplary inflight services, efficient operations, and significant contributions to enhancing the Middle East’s connectivity to the world, thereby boosting the region’s economic development.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, commented on the award: “we are honoured to have been awarded “Airline of the Year” at the Aviator Middle East event. This award recognises our commitment to making travel more accessible across the region, providing the right product at the right time and to supporting Dubai’s aviation hub. This award goes to everyone working hard at flydubai to ensure we continue to push boundaries and to our passengers and stakeholders for the trust they have in us.”

Since the onset of 2023, flydubai has expanded its network significantly, introducing over 20 new destinations. This includes launching routes to Krabi and Pattaya in Thailand, Milan-Bergamo in Italy, Cairo in Egypt, Poznan in Poland, and upcoming routes to Mombasa in Kenya starting 17 January 2024, as well as Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia from 10 February. flydubai now operates a vast network covering over 120 destinations across 54 countries, with a fleet of 84 modern Boeing 737 aircraft. The airline is set to continue expanding its network and fleet, backed by an active recruitment strategy to attract the best talent in the industry.

At the Dubai Airshow, flydubai announced several key developments, including a significant order for 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, a multimillion-dollar Full-Flight Simulator and Training Facility, and a new, specialized MRO facility. Earlier in the year, flydubai also received the esteemed “Four-Star Major Airline” rating from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) for the first time, marking another milestone in its journey of excellence.
