Flydubai has significantly expanded its African network with the recent launch of flight operations to Mombasa, Kenya. With the addition of this new route, the airline now serves 12 destinations in 11 African countries. After taking off from Dubai International (DXB), the first flight, FZ 1289, arrived at Moi International Airport (MBA) to the customary water cannon salute.

A distinguished group, comprising Hon. Onesimus Murkomen, Minister of Roads and Transport, H.E. Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir, Governor of Mombasa, and representatives from Kenya Tourism and Kenya Airports Authority, celebrated the arrival of the first flight. On this inaugural trip, among the passengers was flydubai’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Subcontinent, and Africa), Sudhir Sreedharan.

Flydubai, a well-known coastal city in southeast Kenya, is now the first national airline of the United Arab Emirates to provide direct flights between Dubai and Mombasa.

With a fleet of 84 Boeing 737 aircraft, Flydubai boasts a network that reaches 123 destinations across 54 countries. The airline will start daily flights to Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia on February 10, 2024. In 2023, it added Cairo, Krabi, Milan, Pattaya, and Poznań to its network.

The airline serves the following African locations: Djibouti, Entebbe, Hargeisa, Juba, Mogadishu, Mombasa, Zanzibar, Alexandria, Asmara, Cairo, Dar es Salaam, and Zanzibar.

There will be four weekly flights from Terminal 3 to Moi International Airport (MBA) from Dubai International (DXB) on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Passengers will have more connectivity options via Dubai’s international aviation hub thanks to the codeshare arrangement between these flights and Emirates.

For this route, the starting prices for return Business Class tickets are AED 4,200 from DXB to MBA, and the starting prices for Economy Class Lite tickets are AED 1,600. Economy Class Lite fares start at USD 500, while return Business Class fares from MBA to DXB start at USD 1,500.
