For tourist safety, SA to employ over 2,300 tourism monitors

South Africa is about to provide training as well as deploy more than 2,300 tourism monitors that would help to improve tourist safety in the country, on Tuesday, the Tourism Minister, Patricia de Lille said the above.


At the launching event of the 2023 Tourism Summer Campaign, De Lille made the above declaration. This event was held in the Eastern Cape province.


The minister in her speech said that one of the primary areas to focus for her department is the issue of safety as it strives to increase tourism footfall.


De Lille said that to the public, they want to provide unambiguous assurance along with the domestic tourists, and the ones who are planning their visits to their country in the forthcoming days that they are dynamically advancing their initiations to improve safety of everyone.

The minister stated that the policy to highlight the safety issue involves a wide range of efforts, comprising considerable investments in human resources and technology.


She explained that for the training of more than 2,300 tourism monitors nationwide, the government has highlighted 174.5 million rand during this financial year, and the monitors will be installed in all provinces before the highest summer months starts to contributing in safeguarding the best tourist attractions, national parks and airports.
