France is experiencing a significant surge in tourism, particularly from American travelers, with a third (34%) planning vacations there in 2024, according to Scott Dunn’s latest Travel Trends Report. This interest is set to propel France to the most visited country globally by 2025, building on its nearly 100 million visitors last year. The report highlights a notable 50% increase in US bookings to France compared to 2023, and a 67% increase over 2022 figures.

Scott Dunn’s research, including a survey of 2,000 US adults, sheds light on the allure of France. Paris, with iconic attractions like the Eiffel Tower and Disneyland Paris, tops the list of destinations, especially as it prepares to host the Olympic Games. Normandy is another highlight, with 2024 marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Remembrance celebrations, attracting history enthusiasts. Other popular destinations include the Alps, Nice, and the French Riviera, known for their scenic beauty and luxurious atmosphere.

The appeal of France to American tourists lies in its renowned culinary scene, picturesque landscapes, and opportunities for relaxation. While the romantic charm of cities like Paris is a draw, the report finds that the rich wine culture and vineyards are even more enticing reasons for Americans planning trips in 2024. Additionally, a significant portion of travelers is drawn by major sporting events, including the Olympic Games, Tour de France, and Formula One in Monaco.

Ashley Hall from Scott Dunn emphasizes the diverse experiences France offers, from city breaks in Paris to luxury vacations on the Cote D’Azur and cultural explorations in the Loire Valley. For winter sports enthusiasts, destinations like Chamonix and Val-d’Isère offer exceptional skiing conditions. This varied appeal underscores France’s status as a premier destination for Americans seeking a blend of culinary excellence, cultural richness, and natural beauty in their travel experiences.
