Gallery Mondeouvert and Four Seasons Seoul Team Up for a Celebration of Korean Art

This fall, Four Seasons Hotel Seoul collaborates with Gallery Mondeouvert, a local contemporary art center, to present “Timeless Art, Passion at Heart,” a tribute to Korean artistic expression. Running from August 29 through mid-November 2024, the hotel will host numerous activities, including an art exhibit featuring paintings inspired by the four seasons of Korea, masterfully paired with floral designs by the renowned Nicolai Bergmann. Additionally, guests can partake in a wine and art auction dinner at Boccalino, an Italian eatery, and attend a seminar on modern Korean art.
Gallery Mondeouvert, established in 2020 close to the hotel, specializes in modern art forms like painting, sculpture, and photography. It has chosen six artists to exhibit their works at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul. Each artist portrays a distinct season or explores unique natural motifs through their art installations, displayed throughout the hotel’s common areas, including the gym, spa, and executive lounge.
The artists include Hee-kyung Jeon, whose abstract spring-themed paintings burst with yellow and green shades, and Sang-woon Nam, who captures the essence of summer with his unique blue canvases depicting moon-inspired lotus flowers. Se-hyun Lee’s large oil paintings use vibrant reds to depict the autumnal landscapes of Korea’s mountains and islands, while Young-wook Choi portrays winter with his depiction of a historic Joseon-era moon jar in cool white tones.
Other notable pieces are Hyunjin Yoon’s “Mind Landscape,” a three-dimensional art piece reflecting traditional oriental paintings with layers mimicking mountains made from black ebony wood, and Sangyong Lee’s “Flying Whale,” a wooden kinetic sculpture representing the legendary migration of humpback whales.
In the hotel lobby, each piece of art integrates unique floral arrangements by Nicolai Bergmann, who uses elements like spring grass, blue petals, and a multitude of red petals to complement the paintings’ themes and hues. His winter arrangement mimics a moon jar set in a snowy scene.
On September 12, 2024, art lovers are invited to Boccalino for Art Dining, an upscale five-course meal paired with wines themed around the four seasons and art. This event precedes the restaurant’s official relaunch on September 16, and a portion of the auction’s proceeds will support local youth art initiatives.
