The Goa government’s verdict to adjust water sports has been received at ease by the coastal state’s top travel and tourism organization. It said that visitors to the state would not be happy and visit elsewhere if they are charged too much.

Of late, the Goa bench of the Bombay High court ordered the state department of tourism to initiate a line system concerning water sports. As per the order, the Goa tourism department has launched state-run counters to control the leisure activity.

Nilesh Shah, who is the president of the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa, said that a step like this was important, because a lot of water sports charge the customers inappropriately, which creates a bad name for the state.

Shah said that when a system is launched, it is helpful for everyone. With this, the safety perspective will also come to the forefront. Shah said that a lot of happenings concerning water sports are not getting reported.

He said that safety criterions will be better-quality once there is a directive of the activities. Rating will be regularized. For the development of Goa’s water sports sector, it needs to adhere to the rules of the land. Considering the present situation, tourists will turn their back on Goa and will rather visit places like Malvan in Sindhudurg in Maharashtra.
