Greece’s tourism season is expected to prolong beyond summer.

The Tourism Minister of Greece Vassilis Kikilias said that due to hard work and a cooperative effort in previous autumn, profits in the existing tourism season have surpassed expectations and have propelled financial development.

Kikilias said that only few people believed that Greece would witness a fruitful tourism season.

It was during the initial days of the Ukraine war, with the pandemic still going on and the energy crisis creating disturbance on a global level.

Kikilias said that UBS has now reviewed its prediction for progression in Greece from 4 pct to 5.7 pct, citing tourism as the main pillar for GDP growth.

The total will be checked at the end of this year. He added that an extension of the tourism season is one of the main reasons for this outcome, especially concerning the beginning of the season.

All obligatory actions have been taken so that the season comes to an end as late as possible.

The minister said that the messages they are receiving from tour operators are very heartening. There is demand for tourist packages all through the autumn and even in December.
