Guizhou province, recognized for its breathtaking landscapes in southwestern China, has launched a tourism initiative targeting residents from Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. This program grants them complimentary access to the province’s premier sites, aiming to invigorate travel and foster deeper cultural ties. Starting from March 19 until the end of December, individuals from these regions can explore state-owned attractions in Guizhou without charge, provided they present their mainland China travel documents.

This move is part of Guizhou’s broader strategy to stimulate cultural and tourism exchanges, and to build collaborative relationships not only with Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan but also within the broader region. The establishment of the ‘Guizhou-Hong Kong-Macau Tourism Alliance’ earlier in the year is a testament to these efforts, seeking to tap into new tourist demographics and strengthen market connections.

Acknowledging the economic support from Guangdong, the Guizhou government has extended similar courtesies to its residents, allowing them too to benefit from free access to attractions. Additionally, to encourage more visitors to the province, Guizhou has introduced a 50% toll fee discount on weekends for vehicles registered outside the province, effective from March 19 to December 31. This financial incentive is designed to ease travel costs for tourists exploring the province’s scenic routes.

Guizhou is a treasure trove of natural wonders and cultural heritage, housing multiple UNESCO world heritage sites and national 5A-level tourist destinations. Highlights include the magnificent Huangguoshu Waterfall, the sacred Mount Fanjing, the expansive Loong Palace, and the historically rich Qingyan Ancient Town. The province’s karst landscape, a “natural encyclopedia” of limestone formations, covers over 109,000 square kilometers, making up 62% of its territory. This unique geological feature offers visitors an unparalleled opportunity to witness the natural beauty and biodiversity of Guizhou, enhancing its appeal as a travel destination and contributing significantly to its tourism and cultural exchange initiatives.
