Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha reported that in 2024, annual point-to-point passenger traffic grew more rapidly than transfer traffic for the first time. This trend highlights Qatar’s emergence as a prominent travel destination.

Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha revealed that in 2024, point-to-point passenger traffic experienced a higher growth rate than transfer traffic for the first time, signaling Qatar’s rising appeal as a travel destination.

The airport, which serves as Qatar Airways’ primary hub, welcomed a record-breaking 52.7 million passengers in 2024, marking a 15% increase from the 45 million passengers recorded in 2023. Out of this total, 12 million were point-to-point travelers, reflecting a 16% growth compared to the previous year.

Hamad International Airport (DOH) concluded 2024 with connections to 197 destinations worldwide, supported by 55 airlines operating at the hub. New carriers that began serving Doha during the year included Akasa Air from India, China Southern Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Japan Airlines, and Shenzhen Airlines.

In December, Qatar Airways introduced a new route between Hamad International Airport (DOH) and Toronto Pearson International Airport, offering three flights per week. The route is serviced by a Boeing 777-300ER, featuring 354 seats, with 42 dedicated to business class.

Additionally, in 2024, Qatar Airways expanded its network from Doha to include new destinations such as Hamburg, Lisbon, and Osaka.
