Haryana CM Encourages Promotion of Adventure Tourism

On Monday, during the occasion of flagging off a school mountaineering team at Chandigarh, the Chief Minister ManoharLalKhattar said that tourism would be upheld in a big way with the help of adventure sports in Haryana.

The excursion of these students has been arranged by the School Education Department and Adventure Club.

The Chief MinisterKhattarsaid that to encourage adventure activities in Haryana, SardarMilkha Singh Club has beenbuilt at Morni which is carrying onseveral activities in the area. Besides this, routes for trekking are also being discovered in the Aravalli hills for young enthusiasts, so that adventure endeavors can be improved in south Haryana. As many as 1,000 young people would receive training for adventure activities, said the CM.

As part of a scheme to encourage mountaineering, Haryana is giving away a sum of Rs. 5 lakh for students who can climb any of the 10 highest mountains of India.

The CM said that this time, 100 students are taking part in the mountaineering program. Among them, 22 are differently abled.

The Education Minister of Haryana Kanwar Pal Gujjar said that Rs. 40 lakh would be spent on the mountaineering programmethat would go on for 13 days. People taking part in this rock climbing team will ascent the BharatpurYunam peak of Lahaulwith an altitude of 6,111meters.
