Hawanawana Spa at Four Seasons Resort Lanai Introduces New Ayurvedic Treatments

 Wednesday, June 29, 2022

Hawanawana Spa at Four Seasons Resort Lanai now offers a collection of Ayurvedic treatments including facials and massages. Ayurveda is derived from two Sanskrit words: ayur meaning life and veda meaning knowledge. According to Ayurvedic teachings, there are three subtle energies, called doshas, in each of us that are related to the five elements in nature – air, space, water, fire and earth. Ayurvedic treatments aim to restore imbalances in one’s doshas, rejuvenating mind and body through massage while replenishing skin with luxurious oils and aromatherapy blends.

Island Serenity Ritual – Exclusive to Hawanawana Spa, this 115-minute treatment renews and enables oneself to turn off the outside world, re-centre, and refresh one’s spirit, as the island of Lanai invites one to do. The treatment begins with an intuitive selection of oil from dosha-specific options. The oil selected by the guest, indicates the dosha that is imbalanced at that time and the selection aids in bringing harmony back to the system. The ritual continues with a relaxing Abhyanga Massage followed by a dosha balancing foot bowl massage that remineralizes the body. Next, a soothing kansa facial wand massage brightens skin and releases stress from the facial muscles, neck and shoulders. Finally, the flowing oil of the shriodhara, which is deeply relaxing to the nervous system, melts tension to rejuvenate body and mind.

Abhyanga Massage – A continuous flow of medicated oil, massaged in a rhythmic motion, brings balance and harmony to all three doshas, revitalizing and refreshing the mind, the body and the spirit while simultaneously providing lymphatic drainage and releasing tension from the joints. Available as a 60- or 90-minute treatment.

Island Serenity Facial – The skin-refining facial is designed to deeply rejuvenate and nourish ageing skin, featuring a double cleanse and exfoliation technique, a special mask blend, remineralizing foot bowl massage, and the use of an Ayurvedic kansa wand to soothe, tone and release stress from facial muscles, neck and shoulders. Available as a 60- or 90-minute treatment.

Treatments feature the Shankara product line, whose name means “one who evokes peace within you.” The company combines Ayurvedic wisdom of the East with modern processes of the West to promote wellness and sustainable skincare. Shankara’s natural products are created using cold processed, synergistic blends of anti-ageing, antioxidant-rich active ingredients, combined with highly nutritive, therapeutic, and aromatherapeutic essential oils.
