Moreover, Salt Lake City now links travellers with destinations across North America, Europe, Asia and South America. Guadalajara adds capacity to Mexico, while Lima strengthens South American access. Therefore, expanding routes and rising international passenger traffic are widening Salt Lake City’s global reach.
Guadalajara Becomes Salt Lake City’s Latest International Route Addition
Salt Lake City International Airport added its latest international service on 1 June 2026 when Volaris began nonstop flights between Salt Lake City and Guadalajara, Mexico.
The Salt Lake City Department of Airports confirmed the launch shortly before operations began. The service was scheduled for three flights each week, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The development is significant because it brought Volaris into the Salt Lake City market and increased the choice available to passengers travelling between Utah and Guadalajara.

Guadalajara was already connected with Salt Lake City through Aeromexico. The addition of Volaris therefore represents increased airline competition and additional capacity on the route rather than the creation of Salt Lake City’s first connection with Guadalajara.

The Salt Lake City Department of Airports’ official February 2026 list of new and upcoming routes identifies five recent international additions involving Mexico, Peru, South Korea and Canada.
| Country | Destination | Airport | Airline | Launch | Official status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mexico | Guadalajara | GDL | Volaris | June 2026 | New Volaris service |
| Mexico | Monterrey | MTY | Aeromexico | December 2025 | Winter seasonal |
| Peru | Lima | LIM | Delta Air Lines | December 2025 | Winter seasonal |
| South Korea | Seoul/Incheon | ICN | Delta Air Lines | June 2025 | International route |
| Canada | Edmonton | YEG | WestJet | May 2025 | Summer seasonal |
These additions have broadened the geographical reach of the airport. Seoul/Incheon gives Salt Lake City a nonstop link with South Korea, while Lima provides a seasonal connection with Peru. Edmonton strengthens Canadian connectivity, while Monterrey and the additional Guadalajara operation deepen the airport’s links with Mexico.
Mexico Has a Strong Presence in Salt Lake City’s International Network
Mexico stands out within Salt Lake City’s international schedule.
The airport’s August 2026 international schedule included flights from SLC to Cancún, Guadalajara, Los Cabos, Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta. Guadalajara alone had 10 scheduled weekly departures from Salt Lake City during August. Seven were listed under Aeromexico and three under Volaris.
That means travellers on the Guadalajara route gained a second airline option following the arrival of Volaris.
The additional service is particularly notable because Volaris was new to Salt Lake City International Airport. Official June passenger statistics already recorded 1,817 Volaris enplaned passengers and 1,940 deplaned passengers following the carrier’s launch.

Salt Lake City Connects Nonstop with Seven Foreign Countries
The airport’s published August international schedule illustrates the geographical reach now available from Salt Lake City.
International destinations listed by the airport span Mexico, Canada, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, South Korea and Peru, although individual services can be seasonal and do not necessarily operate throughout the year.
| Country | International destinations listed by SLC |
|---|---|
| Mexico | Cancún, Guadalajara, Los Cabos, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta |
| Canada | Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver |
| Netherlands | Amsterdam |
| United Kingdom | London Heathrow |
| France | Paris Charles de Gaulle |
| South Korea | Seoul/Incheon |
| Peru | Lima |
The August schedule contained 14 international destinations. However, Lima had no scheduled departures that month because the airport identifies the Peru route as a winter-seasonal service.
For travellers, this distinction matters. A destination appearing within SLC’s international network does not mean flights operate every day or during every month of the year.
Europe Asia and South America Extend SLC Beyond North America
Salt Lake City’s international network now extends well beyond neighbouring Canada and Mexico.
The airport’s August schedule showed 10 weekly Amsterdam departures, including seven Delta flights and three KLM services. London Heathrow had five weekly departures, while Paris Charles de Gaulle had seven.

Asia has also become part of SLC’s international network through Seoul/Incheon. The August schedule showed seven weekly Delta departures, effectively providing a daily scheduled connection.
South America is represented by Lima. Delta introduced the route in December 2025 as a winter-seasonal service, according to the airport’s official new-route record.
Together, these routes give SLC direct scheduled connections across North America, Europe, Asia and South America, subject to seasonal schedules.
Canada Remains an Important Part of SLC Connectivity
Canada is another substantial component of Salt Lake City’s international network.
The August schedule listed Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver. Vancouver had the highest frequency among those Canadian destinations, with 21 weekly departures listed across Delta and SkyWest. Calgary had 14 weekly departures, Toronto seven and Edmonton one.
Edmonton is one of the airport’s more recent international additions. WestJet introduced the service in May 2025 as a summer-seasonal route.

The combination of several Canadian destinations alongside extensive Mexican connectivity gives SLC a broad North American international network while its long-haul routes provide links farther abroad.
International Passenger Traffic Grows in First Half of 2026
The airport’s expansion comes as official traffic statistics show growth in international passenger numbers.
Salt Lake City International Airport handled 745,056 international passengers between January and June 2026, compared with 725,855 during the corresponding period in 2025. That represented an official year-on-year increase of 2.65%.
June alone recorded 147,864 international passengers, comprising 76,508 enplaned and 71,356 deplaned international passengers. Total international traffic for the month was 0.55% above June 2025.
| SLC passenger measure | June 2026 | Jan–Jun 2026 | YoY change Jan–Jun |
|---|---|---|---|
| International enplaned | 76,508 | 372,071 | +4.23% |
| International deplaned | 71,356 | 372,985 | +1.12% |
| Total international | 147,864 | 745,056 | +2.65% |
| Total airport passengers | 2,582,949 | 14,281,858 | +2.17% |
International traffic therefore grew slightly faster than overall airport passenger traffic during the first six months of 2026. Total SLC passenger numbers reached 14,281,858, an increase of 2.17%, while international passengers increased 2.65%.

Most importantly, passenger statistics provide measurable evidence of international growth. With 745,056 international passengers recorded during the first half of 2026, Salt Lake City International Airport’s expanding route map is being accompanied by increased international passenger movement.
