Hilton, a leading global hospitality brand, has announced a milestone achievement, surpassing 1,000 operational hotels across the Asia Pacific region. This remarkable growth comes after a record-setting year and exceeds the company’s initial target of reaching 1,000 hotels by 2025, rising from 761 properties at the close of the previous year.
Over the last five years, Hilton has expanded its portfolio in the region at an impressive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 25%, driven by the increasing demand for travel and experiences among Asia Pacific’s growing middle class. With a robust pipeline of 915 hotels in various stages of development, Hilton is poised to double its total footprint in the coming years.
“Hilton’s rapid expansion across Asia Pacific is underpinned by rising customer demand for our brands and appetite for unique travel experiences at every price point,” said Alan Watts, president, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “New openings in gateway cities, key transport hubs and Asia’s sought-after resorts are unlocking fresh opportunities for the region’s travelers and pave the way for continued momentum in the years to come.”
Several new additions to Hilton’s portfolio played a significant role in achieving the 1,000-hotel milestone. Notable openings include Hilton Shanghai City Center, Hilton Gurugram Baani City Centre, Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda, The Motley Hotel Richmond under the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and Hilton Garden Inn Bangkok Riverside.
“Despite Hilton’s significant growth, there remain many new opportunities for development as demand continues to outstrip supply for hospitality in Asia Pacific,” said Clarence Tan, senior vice president, Development, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “We are focused on bringing the right brands to the right places at the right time. We see demand continuing to grow from the mid-market to luxury and we will continue to bring new hotels to market that cater to different price points and stay occasions.”
Hilton is set to achieve remarkable growth in the Asia Pacific region, with plans to more than double its current portfolio of 500 mid-market hotels. Key to this expansion are its focused-service brands, such as Hampton by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn, which are steadily growing across the region. Hilton aims to significantly expand its luxury portfolio, with plans to grow its collection to 150 properties, effectively quadrupling its current footprint in the luxury hospitality sector over the next few years. This includes its Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, and LXR-branded hotels, as well as an exclusive partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, further diversifying Hilton’s luxury offerings. Additionally, the flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts and DoubleTree by Hilton brands are projected to grow by 160 new properties. Notably, three-quarters of Hilton’s 915-hotel pipeline is already under construction, solidifying its leadership in the industry for projects underway.

Hilton achieved a significant milestone in Greater China this year, surpassing 700 operating hotels and reaching a total of 758 properties spanning 10 distinct brands across 249 locations. The focused-service segment continues to thrive, with over 400 Hampton by Hilton hotels and nearly 100 Hilton Garden Inn locations now operating. Hilton is also strengthening its presence in the full-service and luxury categories, with highlights such as Hilton Shanghai City Center, Conrad Chongqing, and the upcoming debut of the LXR Hotels & Resorts brand in Xi’an.
India has seen significant growth for Hilton in 2024, with the openings of DoubleTree by Hilton Bengaluru Whitefield and Hilton Gurugram Baani City Center. A landmark licensing agreement with Olive by Embassy has introduced the Spark by Hilton brand to Asia Pacific, paving the way for 150 new hotels and marking Hilton’s entry into the premium economy segment in the region.
South East Asia continues to be a thriving market for Hilton, with ambitious plans to double its presence in the region over the next few years. Recent highlights include the company’s debut in Laos with DoubleTree by Hilton Vientiane, the opening of two DoubleTree properties in Jakarta, and the addition of two Hilton Garden Inn hotels in Thailand. In Vietnam, Hilton’s strategic partnership to develop a focused-service hotel portfolio will significantly increase its pipeline, ultimately expanding its presence in the country fivefold.
Hilton is also focusing on the growth of its lifestyle brands, such as Canopy by Hilton, Curio Collection by Hilton, and Tapestry Collection by Hilton, catering to travelers seeking more personalized and authentic experiences.
Supporting this robust growth is Hilton’s celebrated workplace culture. For the eighth consecutive year, the company was recognized as the #1 hospitality company in the “Best Workplaces in Asia™” list by Great Place to Work®, underscoring its commitment to excellence both for its guests and team members.
