Hilton Heidelberg, Germany

Hilton is marking the grand opening of Hilton Heidelberg, its latest establishment in Germany under its flagship brand. Following a substantial investment initiative, Hilton Heidelberg boasts 244 modern and comfortable rooms and suites, showcasing contemporary design. The hotel’s interior is a nod to Heidelberg’s rich literary heritage, as the city is celebrated as a UNESCO “City of Literature.” It seamlessly blends new construction with the preservation of the iconic Hotel Schrieder property, originally inaugurated in 1845.

Nestled in the historic city of Heidelberg, renowned for its Gothic architecture and home to Germany’s first university, Hilton Heidelberg offers easy access to the Old Town, replete with historic structures and charming streets and squares. The hotel is also in proximity to the famous Heidelberg Castle, renowned for its Castle Illumination Days.

Hilton Heidelberg offers a range of accommodations, including king, deluxe, and executive rooms, as well as suites. Families and groups can book Confirmed Connecting Rooms for adjacent stays. The hotel features seven adaptable meeting spaces, a spacious ballroom accommodating up to 300 guests, a well-equipped fitness center with Peloton Bikes, and two dining establishments catering to both business and leisure travelers.

David Kelly, Senior Vice President, Continental Europe, Hilton, expressed, “The opening of Hilton Heidelberg marks a significant milestone in our continued expansion throughout Germany, with the brand now established in 11 cities across the country. We are thrilled to welcome our inaugural guests in Heidelberg with this important addition, one of over 20 new hotels slated to open across Continental Europe in 2023.”

Remmie de Graaf, General Manager of Hilton Heidelberg, shared, “We are excited to introduce Hilton Heidelberg, embodying Hilton’s renowned hospitality in this historically rich city. Our commitment is to create exceptional experiences by celebrating the legacy of the original Hotel Schrieder and Heidelberg’s illustrious history. We are devoted to making Hilton Heidelberg the preferred choice for visitors and events.”

David Kellett, Managing Director – Alternative Investments at Invesco Real Estate, remarked, “The inauguration of Hilton Heidelberg, a pivotal asset in Invesco’s pan-European hotel strategy, fills us with immense enthusiasm. The work undertaken on this project is a testament to the capabilities of our collective teams at Invesco, Hilton, and Westmont, showcasing their ability to recognize, plan, and execute a comprehensive asset repositioning. We eagerly anticipate showcasing the newly refurbished hotel to our investors.”

Culinary enthusiasts will be delighted by the offerings at Hilton Heidelberg’s two dining venues, Schrieder’s Bar and Schrieder’s Restaurant, both named after the hotel’s founder. Schrieder’s Bar provides a relaxed daytime atmosphere for coffee and informal meetings, transitioning into a vibrant bar in the evening with its signature cocktails, beers, and an array of local and international wines. The restaurant offers a contemporary twist on traditional German cuisine and stands out with its elegant courtyard featuring a glass ceiling. Both establishments pay homage to the hotel’s history, with the “Mark Twain Cocktail” inspired by the author’s stay in Heidelberg and his mention of the hotel in his book “A Tramp Abroad.”

Heidelberg is not only a cultural landmark but also a hub for business and scientific research. The city hosts numerous major corporations and is recognized as one of Europe’s leading scientific hubs, home to the prestigious European Molecular Biology Laboratory. The city’s commitment to education and science is further exemplified by the Botanical Garden of the University of Heidelberg, a tranquil sanctuary of biodiversity.

For travelers heading to Heidelberg, Hilton Heidelberg is conveniently accessible from Frankfurt am Main Airport via car, train, or the direct Frankfurt Airport Shuttle, with direct stops at the hotel. Additionally, the hotel offers an underground car park equipped with electric vehicle charging stations.

Hilton Heidelberg is committed to sustainability and innovation, aligning with Hilton’s Travel with Purpose ESG (environmental, social, governance) strategy by employing the latest technology and energy-efficient systems. The hotel is making strides towards achieving BREEAM refurbishment certification. Furthermore, Hilton Heidelberg actively participates in external and internal sustainability programs, including the Green Key accreditation process and Hilton’s LightStay ESG management platform. These initiatives play a pivotal role in continually monitoring and reducing the hotel’s carbon emissions, water usage, and food waste.

Hilton Heidelberg is part of Hilton Honors, the award-winning guest loyalty program for Hilton’s distinguished hotel brands. Members who book directly enjoy instant benefits, including a flexible payment slider allowing members to choose a combination of Points and money for booking, an exclusive member discount, free standard Wi-Fi, and access to the Hilton Honors mobile app. Booking directly at Hilton.com, through the Hilton Honors app, or other official Hilton channels guarantees additional perks and a price match guarantee.
