Hilton (NYSE: HLT), a global hospitality leader, achieved remarkable growth in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) in 2023, expanding into new markets and marking brand milestones. Last year saw the opening of 19 new hotels and around 4,000 rooms in CALA, the highest room addition in the region in Hilton’s history. With a portfolio of over 220 hotels and 40,000 rooms across 15 brands and 29 countries and territories, Hilton’s presence in CALA remains strong. The company also bolstered its pipeline with over 35 new hotel deals signed in 2023, bringing the total pipeline to 110 properties. This strong performance signals continued momentum for Hilton in the region.

“The record growth that we achieved in the region in 2023 is a result of our strategic focus to bring the right hotels to the right destinations at the right time by partnering with exceptional owners,” said Pablo Maturana, vice president of development, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton. “Hilton’s award-winning brands continue generating interest from hotel developers in the region, where we have almost tripled our presence in the last decade with a diversified portfolio of hotels. The momentum of our growing pipeline reflects the power of our brands and our ability to meet the demands of leisure and business travelers.”

Hilton (NYSE: HLT) witnessed accelerated growth across the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) in 2023, with expansion spanning 29 countries and territories. Key highlights include Mexico, Argentina, and the Dominican Republic emerging as top-performing growth markets.

In Mexico, Hilton maintains a robust presence with approximately 120 hotels open and in the pipeline. In Argentina, Hilton operates 10 hotels currently and plans to nearly double its footprint in the coming years. Similarly, in the Dominican Republic, with six hotels operational and more than 10 in development, Hilton aims to nearly triple its presence.

The growth drivers for Hilton in CALA were diverse. Conversions accounted for over 40% of the openings in 2023, including significant milestones like the opening of Hilton Mendoza in Argentina’s renowned wine-making region and Hilton San Salvador, the company’s inaugural venture in El Salvador.

Strategic new-build hotels also contributed to Hilton’s expansion, such as the Embassy Suites by Hilton Aruba Resort, Hilton Garden Inn La Romana in the Dominican Republic, and Hilton Monterrey in Mexico.

Furthermore, Hilton capitalized on the growing demand for all-inclusive experiences, exemplified by the openings of Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All-Inclusive Resort in Mexico and The Rif at Mangrove Beach Corendon Curaçao All-Inclusive, Curio Collection by Hilton. Noteworthy among the upcoming ventures is the Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, set to open in the Dominican Republic later this year.

Brand milestones were also celebrated, with Hilton Garden Inn reaching its 1,000th hotel globally and expanding into new markets like the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Puerto Rico. Tru by Hilton, a game-changing brand, witnessed significant growth with expansions across CALA, including ventures into Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and more.

Hilton’s lifestyle brands, including Curio Collection by Hilton and Tapestry Collection by Hilton, continued to attract travelers seeking unique experiences in urban and resort destinations.

Looking ahead, Hilton plans to open more than 15 hotels across CALA in 2024, including notable ventures like the DoubleTree by Hilton Buenos Aires in Argentina, Motto by Hilton Cusco in Peru, and Hilton Garden Inn Asuncion Aviadores del Chaco in Paraguay. Additionally, the Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Cacique and Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, are set to redefine luxury hospitality in the region.
