ITA Airways has announced an expansion of its services to Argentina for the upcoming summer season, adding 2 more frequencies to the route. This will increase the total weekly flights between Rome Fiumicino and Buenos Aires to 9 starting from June. The decision to enhance offerings to the Argentine capital stems from the outstanding performance recorded in 2023, marked by high load factors on the Rome Fiumicino – Buenos Aires nonstop route.

With these additional frequencies, ITA Airways will operate up to 30 weekly round-trip flights to South America during the peak of the 2024 summer season. South America serves as a pivotal market for both business and cargo traffic and remains a favored holiday destination for Italians, as well as a home to numerous individuals of Italian heritage. ITA Airways takes pride in being the preferred carrier for both Italian and local communities in Argentina and Brazil, offering a sense of home from the moment passengers step onboard.

Beyond Buenos Aires, ITA Airways also operates up to 14 weekly frequencies (28 flights) from Rome Fiumicino to Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city, and 7 weekly frequencies (14 flights) to Rio de Janeiro.

To underscore its commitment to the South American market, ITA Airways has strengthened its codeshare agreement with Aerolíneas Argentinas. This enhancement includes seamless connections between Rome Fiumicino and Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport as part of the partnership with the Argentine flag carrier.

Passengers can now book single-ticket journeys from Rome Fiumicino to Buenos Aires, enjoying comprehensive connectivity from check-in to their final destination. The codeshare flights are available for booking on both airlines’ websites, booking systems, and travel agencies.

Under the agreement, ITA Airways’ “AZ” code will be applied to flights from Rome Fiumicino to Buenos Aires Ezeiza, as well as to 32 domestic destinations in Argentina and 6 international destinations in South America. Conversely, Aerolíneas Argentinas’ “AR” code will be applied to ITA Airways’ flights between Buenos Aires and Rome Fiumicino, along with connecting flights to 13 domestic destinations in Italy and 7 international destinations in Europe.

ITA Airways now boasts 34 codeshare agreements, a remarkable achievement within just over two years since the commencement of the company’s operations.
