This holiday season, Austrian Airlines is once again bringing people together, connecting loved ones from around the globe. Anticipating a total of 430,000 passengers during the Christmas and New Year’s period, the airline is not only embracing the festive spirit but also catering to the popularity of vacation time, especially during school breaks.

In response to the demand for warm-weather destinations, Austrian Airlines is re-introducing services to Mauritius, Male, and Cancún, offering a delightful escape from the European winter chill. Additionally, the airline is expanding its repertoire with new destinations such as Porto, Marseille, Tromsø, Vilnius, Seville, Rovaniemi, and Kittilä.

For Business Class passengers embarking on long-haul flights between December 22, 2023, and January 1, 2024, a special culinary treat awaits. In addition to the customary offerings from Austrian Airlines and Do&Co, passengers will be treated to a refreshing aperitif named Miss Rosy—a long drink featuring locally produced Schilcher vermouth, enhanced with tonic, lemon, and fresh rosemary, promising a festive start to their culinary journey.

Michael Trestl, Austrian Airlines COO, highlights the unifying role of air travel during the Christmas season, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to flying people home from all corners of the world. With the introduction of new destinations and warm-water getaways, Austrian Airlines aims to provide a diverse and hospitable experience to its expected 430,000 passengers.

This year, Austrian Airlines is poised to transport 15% more passengers for Christmas and New Year’s Eve compared to 2022. Bookings have surged, projecting a significant increase in passenger numbers, with approximately 130,000 passengers expected over the Christmas weekend and around 100,000 over the New Year’s Eve weekend.

Looking ahead to 2024, Austrian Airlines is set to introduce new destinations—Bremen and Tbilisi—in its summer flight schedule. Bremen, rejoining the network from May 6, 2024, will be served four times a week, while flights to the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, will resume in early May 2024, offering three weekly connections. Additionally, Bari will now be served twice a week. CCO Michael Trestl expresses the airline’s commitment to meeting the increasing demand and desire to travel, ensuring passengers enjoy direct flights from Vienna to an expanding array of destinations with the trademark Austrian hospitality.
