In collaboration for more sustainable and efficient food waste disposal, Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong and ORCA Digesters have partnered. Situated in Hong Kong’s historic North Point district, the stylish waterfront hotel, Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong, is renowned for its guest rooms with breathtaking harbor views, exceptional guest experiences, and award-winning dining venues. Aligning with the hotel’s commitment to Hyatt’s World of Care framework, a global initiative focusing on advancing care for the planet, people, and responsible business, Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong has successfully installed its initial ORCA Digester. This system facilitates the hotel in disposing of its food waste in a more sustainable manner.

Installed at Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong is the ORCA Digester OG25, an on-site food waste digester utilizing aerobic digestion to transform food waste into a liquid dischargeable safely into the existing plumbing infrastructure. The ORCA efficiently breaks down food waste within 24 hours, significantly reducing the need for transporting waste to landfills. Equipped with scales to monitor diversion data and calculate sustainability and impact metrics, the ORCA technology automatically reports this information to the ORCA+ online reporting dashboard. This tool enables Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong to better track, analyze, and progressively enhance its food waste management practices. The ORCA complements the hotel’s broader food waste management strategy, which utilizes food waste tracking technology and data analytics to optimize food purchasing, production, menu planning processes, and minimize the impact of unavoidable food waste through improved disposal methods, surplus food donation, and upcycling suitable components.
