On December 1st, 2023, Hyatt Regency Chennai celebrated its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in collaboration with the children from Prema Vasam and Presidency Girls High School. Embracing sustainability, this year marked a unique initiative as they crafted a 20 ft. tall Christmas tree from children’s storybooks, a first for Chennai. Following the event, these storybooks will be generously donated to the Presidency Girls School in Egmore, Chennai, contributing to the promotion of a love for reading among the young minds.

In line with Hyatt’s commitment to sustainability, they initiated a book donation drive lasting until Christmas. During the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Mr. Ruban Das, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Chennai, expressed the company’s dedication to giving back to society during the holiday season. As a global entity, Hyatt aims to support organizations that align with their World of Care platform, focusing on caring for people so they can be their best. Mr. Das emphasized the joy brought to young children’s faces when receiving books, generously shared by the hotel’s guests.

The ceremony featured live music, a special appearance by Santa Claus, and festive treats, including mulled wine and canapés for the guests, along with a special kids menu. To complement the holiday spirit, Hyatt Regency Chennai launched The Christmas Shop at the Lobby Lounge, offering an array of delightful gifts such as cookies, cakes, chocolates, pies, and more. This festive offering is available for purchase from December 2nd to December 25th, 2023, ensuring that Christmas celebrations are filled with special goodies for loved ones.
