Glacier exploration is added to the program along remote port visits and more active adventure itineraries. Silver Moon and Silver Whisper cruises show travelers the natural wonders of Alaska. Additional onboard entertainment was added to present the various wilderness, glacier, and coastal communities while offering a variety of excursions. With Seward’s new Alaska Railroad Terminal, access to cruising and land services is improved. Silversea wants to draw out continuous interest in 2027 with more voyages. Travelers will have the option to pursue longer, more active adventures.

The programme highlighted Alaska’s growing appeal among luxury travellers seeking immersive journeys through untouched wilderness. With smaller ships and carefully designed itineraries, passengers were able to explore destinations that combine scenic beauty, local heritage and exclusive experiences.

Silversea Expands Alaska Exploration Through 14 Unique Destinations

During the 2026 season, Silversea’s ships visited 14 destinations across Alaska, featuring a mix of iconic ports and lesser-known coastal communities. The itineraries included famous locations such as Juneau and Skagway, while also introducing guests to smaller destinations including Metlakatla and Klawock.

The voyages were designed to provide a deeper understanding of Alaska’s landscapes and communities. Travellers experienced the region’s spectacular waterways, sailed near the immense Hubbard Glacier, explored the natural surroundings of Sitka Sound through kayaking, and travelled by private railcar towards the historic White Pass summit.

The combination of scenic cruising and land-based activities allowed guests to experience Alaska from multiple perspectives. From towering glaciers and coastal forests to indigenous communities and historic routes, the journeys highlighted the diversity of the destination.

New Seward Alaska Railroad Terminal Improves Cruise Travel Connections

A major development supporting Silversea’s 2026 Alaska season was the opening of the Dale R. and Carol Ann Lindsey Alaska Railroad Terminal in Seward.

The new terminal, opened in June 2026, features a floating pier with shore power capabilities and direct access to the Alaska Railroad network. The facility has strengthened connections between cruise arrivals and inland travel experiences, supporting cross-gulf itineraries that combine luxury cruises with rail journeys.

The improved infrastructure provides travellers with a smoother transition between ship and land-based adventures. Visitors can now more easily combine Alaska’s coastal scenery with journeys through the state’s interior landscapes, creating a more complete destination experience.

The terminal development also represents a wider effort to improve tourism infrastructure in Seward, one of Alaska’s key cruise gateways.

Silversea Prepares Expanded 2027 Alaska Cruise Programme

Following the successful completion of its 2026 season, Silversea is preparing for another extensive Alaska programme in 2027. The company has planned 29 voyages aboard Silver Moon and Silver Whisper, operating from May 27 through early September 2027.

The upcoming season will continue focusing on remote exploration and scenic cruising, with several itineraries introducing opportunities to sail through Tracy Arm and Sawyer Glacier. Guests will also return to popular glacier destinations including Hubbard Glacier and Icy Bay.

The continued focus on Alaska’s glacier regions reflects strong traveller interest in nature-based luxury experiences. These routes offer opportunities to witness dramatic ice formations, coastal wilderness and some of the most recognisable landscapes in North America.

Adventure-Focused Excursions Add More Depth to Alaska Journeys

Visitors to Ketchikan can participate in sportfishing activities, while those exploring Valdez can experience river rafting through the spectacular surroundings of Keystone Canyon.
