This project is developed in collaboration with Zhancheng Tourism Development, a prominent Taipei-based real estate broker affiliated with Sinyi Realty Inc., a publicly listed real estate brokerage company in Taipei.

IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to introduce a 450-room eco-friendly property, the InterContinental Sabah Kota Kinabalu Resort, situated in the capital of Sabah state in northern Borneo. This beachfront resort, scheduled to open in 2027, signifies a significant expansion of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Malaysia. The resort is committed to sustainable practices, emphasizing environmentally conscious design, construction, and operations. Guests can expect immersive experiences that celebrate, preserve, and cherish the biodiversity of the region, providing a close-to-nature stay. The rooms, suites, and villas will showcase a “back-to-nature” theme rooted in Borneo culture, complemented by modern amenities.

Rajit Sukumaran, Managing Director, South East Asia and Korea, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:

“InterContinental Sabah Kota Kinabalu Resort will quickly become a ‘must-visit’ destination, sensitively situated and sustainably operated in alignment with IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow 10-year responsible business plan. Together with our partners Zhancheng Tourism Development, we can’t wait to welcome guests in four years’ time.”

Strategically situated just a 25-minute drive from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the InterContinental Sabah Kota Kinabalu Resort will boast a 600-meter-long beach, creating an ideal retreat for guests. The resort’s amenities comprise four dining options, 2,400 square meters of meeting space, a fitness center, spa, kids club, three outdoor pools, and the distinguished Club InterContinental Lounge. In addition to offering a range of recreational options, the resort encourages guests to connect with nature through activities like island hopping, snorkeling, forest walks, mangrove kayaking, and wildlife cruises.

IHG Hotels & Resorts is committed to sustainable practices through its Journey to Tomorrow 10-year action plan. Aligned with its purpose of True Hospitality for Good and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, IHG focuses on reducing carbon emissions, eliminating single-use items, cutting food waste, and contributing positively to communities. With seven hotels in Malaysia, IHG plans to triple its estate to 18 properties across six brands in the next five years, introducing Regent Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, and Hotel Indigo to the market.
