IMEX America 2023, held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas from October 17 to 19, emerged as a resounding success, revealing record-breaking participation and reflecting the evolving trends within the global business events sector.

The post-show statistics unveiled a staggering attendance of 15,029 participants, marking it as the largest IMEX show to date. Notably, 5,364 of these participants were buyers, comprising both hosted buyers and buyer attendees.

Of these, an impressive 4,000 were hosted buyers, with a significant 45 percent wielding budgets exceeding $5 million. The high ratio of buyers to exhibitors, totaling 3,443 companies, fueled robust business interactions on the expansive show floor.

The event not only showcased numerical magnitude but also revealed a burgeoning demand for personalized and community-centered experiences within the industry.

An innovative addition to the program was the inaugural first-timer’s tour, attracting over 200 participants on the opening day. This immersive experience featured a musical warm-up and facilitated ice-breakers, setting a lively tone for a guided tour around the main features of the show floor.

Another noteworthy highlight was the overwhelming response to Storycraft Lab’s Experience Profiles, specifically tailored for IMEX America.

Nearly 4,000 participants engaged with this personalized experience by completing a quiz that unveiled their Experience Profiles type. This, in turn, provided a bespoke guide to the show based on individual preferences in interpreting information, engaging with others, and embracing new experiences. Feedback indicated that this approach was well-received, suggesting a growing appetite for fresh and innovative ideas among event planners.

The show’s educational component also experienced significant growth, with over 2,000 attendees participating in sessions at the Inspiration Hub, sponsored by WebEx. Offering a diverse array of topics, attendees could ‘pick and mix’ sessions to suit their learning needs, covering areas from personal well-being, including managing mental health, to exploring future trends and forecasts across global industries.

Carina Bauer, CEO of IMEX, expressed satisfaction with the event’s outcome, emphasizing not only its size but also the value generated. She noted the show’s ability to provide an accurate reflection of the industry’s current state, highlighting the palpable buoyancy and confidence evident in the numerous business connections forged on the expansive show floor. IMEX America 2023, with its record-breaking scale and emphasis on personalization, emerges as a pivotal event shaping the future landscape of the global business events industry.
