The minister of heritage and tourism, Salem bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, established the fact that tourism in Oman is seeing stable development in all almost areas, stating his expectation that the sector’s contribution to the GDP in the next two years will reach 2.75 per cent compared to 2.4 per cent by the end of last year.
In a statement to the Oman News Agency, His Excellency explained that the contribution of the tourism sector of Oman in 2022 to the GDP amounted to OMR 1.07 billion out of total revenues amounting to OMR 1.9 billion in 2022. Also, the number of tourists is continually increasing both in terms of the level of domestic tourism and inflow of tourists from outside Oman.
His Excellency also mentioned that there is an exhaustive strategy to encourage all components of tourism, and the monetary resources and tools that will be hired in this facet in the upcoming year have been sanctioned through qualitative global events that will signify milestones in the advertising plan, most particularly the declaration of the Sultanate of Oman as the authorized partner of the biggest
international exhibitions in tourism – “Berlin Travel and Tourism Exchange 2024”.
He also explained that in future, more projects will be added.
