In spite of experiencing two-years hurt due to COVID-19, the rebound of the travel sector from the pandemic is happening slowly. Credit goes to the repressed demand in travelling.

And, it seems that, people are heading to the Dominican Republic huge numbers. In its entire history of tourism, the Caribbean island had the second-biggest month as in February 2022, over 566,000 travelers descended on the Dominican Republic, as per the report of the Caribbean Journal.

In September 2021, the country eased its travel restrictions. To quote Tourism Minister David Collado, “Tourist flow levels continue to remain at pre-pandemic levels in the Dominican Republic, while most destinations in Central America and the Caribbean are nowhere near achieving such a recovery.”

The Journal observed that almost 60 percent of all tourists to the Dominican Republic are pouring in from North America. However, it’s not a bolt from the blue by seeing how insistent Collado and the Ministry of Tourism of Dominican Republic have been into marketing effort.

Before easing its travel rules, the Dominican Republic paid promotional visit to all the prime cities in the U.S. – to build-up that excitement about D.R. and reconnect with tourism leaders in different markets.
