In the first quarter of 2023, Mexico City, Baja California Sur, and Quintana Roo were the largest recipients in terms of foreign direct investment in the tourism of Mexico, on Monday, the Tourism Minister reported the same. Between January and March, tourism-related countrywide FDI totaled US $326.9 million; Torruco in a statement said the same.
The data is corresponding to almost 1.8% of total first quarter FDI which was just over $18.6 billion.
In the first three months of the year, three-quarters of tourism sector FDI was in furnish apartments with hospitality services and hotels with other incorporated services, Torruco said.
The residual 24.5% tourism-related FDI went off to the airport and helicopter management, the tourism minister said.
Foreigners, particularly the citizens of United States are grabbing all holiday properties located in places like Mexico City, Los Cabos, and Cancún, as per the data.
Baja California Sur, home to well-liked attractions like, San José del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas and La Paz, between January and March, welcomed $81.9 million in FDI, an amount corresponding to 25% of the first quarter total.
Around $80.3 million flowed into Mexico City, just under a quarter of the tourism sector FDI, where Condesa, Roma and Polanco neighborhoods are mainly well-liked by the foreigners, as $69.4 million went to Quintana Roo.
