As per a recent report, the tourism industry of India, which was harshly affected by the pandemic, is on its
road toward revival, assisted by growing travel and the country’s G20 presidency.

The report said that tourism will generate around 88 million employments, adding $140 billion to India’s
gross domestic product this year. The tourism segment presently accounts for closely 13% of all jobs, adding 5% to its GDP.

Throughout the next decade, India is anticipated to flourish in the medical, spiritual, wellness and business
tourism as well as the adventure travel segments.

Medical and wellness tourism would possibly produce around 24 million employments by 2032. Adventure tourism is also expected to create six million jobs during this time.

While global tourists spend $2134 for each trip to India, local tourists spend only $56, as per the report,
which collected secondary and publicly accessible info.

Visitor numbers are, however, yet to bounce back. Last year, India witnessed around 6.19 million foreign
tourists, which is around 55% lower than 2019’s 10.93 million. Nevertheless, only around 30% of these 6.19 million travelers visited for tourism. Likewise, foreign exchange incomes dropped from Rs. 2,10,981 crore in 2019 to Rs. 1,34,543 crore last year.

Worldwide, travel is predictable to fully recuperate this year, reaching 80-95% of the levels before the
pandemic. India has backed profoundly to this.
