Indonesia’s Tourism Minister applauds UN Tourism’s rebranding, aligning with sustainable development goals for a dynamic global travel landscape.

Sandiaga Uno, the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, commended the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) rebranding to UN Tourism, emphasizing its resonance with Indonesia’s distinctive approach to tourism development.

Uno stated, “This resonates with Indonesia’s tourism development strategies centered on ‘people and planet,’ accentuating sustainability, productivity, and inclusivity,” as mentioned in a statement from the ministry on Sunday.

Martini M Paham, the ministry’s Deputy of Resources and Institutional Affairs, elaborated that the rebranding underscores UN Tourism’s pivotal role as the specialized UN agency for global tourism.

“The rebranding also emphasized UN Tourism as the global leader in tourism development and pushed for social and economic changes to ensure that ‘people and planet’ will be prioritized,” Martini said.

She mentioned that the ministry will guide relevant stakeholders to adapt the branding of all activities and programs associated with UN Tourism.

The rebranding introduces a new tagline, “Bringing the World Closer,” reflected in the redesigned logo, depicting five continents forming a dynamic human figure.

These modifications mirror the agency’s perspective on the ever-evolving nature of tourism and the prioritization of human resources.

The transition will unfold gradually over the coming months. The new logo will initially debut on digital platforms such as websites, social media, and newsletters, followed by implementation across physical spaces like offices and events.

With its headquarters in Madrid, Spain, UN Tourism boasts 160 member states and numerous private sector partners. It maintains regional offices in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Nara (Japan, covering Asia-Pacific), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil, covering the Americas), and an upcoming office in Morocco (for Africa).
