The InterContinental Lisbon team is deeply motivated by the desire to make a positive impact on the community. They collaborated to prepare 1,000 meals for ReFood, an initiative aimed at helping those in need. Additionally, they raised funds to support children from SOS Children’s Village and the Portuguese Association for Autism (APPDA). The theme of various uplifting and encouraging events that took place at the five-star facility for IHG’s philanthropy month was “Giving For Good.”

At InterContinental Lisbon, Giving For Good is more than just a month; it’s a time when everyone is inspired, supportive, and willing to lend a hand. The São Sebastião ReFood nucleus, which has fostered solidarity work and assisted more than 50 houses and 100 individuals, received 1,000 meals.

The InterContinental Lisbon values children’s health and wellbeing and is aware that many of them have experienced neglect and need dental care. With this understanding, the hotel has pledged to cover the costs of dental treatments for children and young people under the care of SOS Villages, making a generous donation of €1,500 raised through a garage sale.

As part of its fundraising efforts, the hotel organized several initiatives, including a scrap metal sale, bake sale, and table football rental. The money raised went to the “Skills Gym,” an educational and therapeutic center run in partnership with the Portuguese Association for Autism Spectrum Disorder (APPDA). The $500 donation will be used to buy instructional and therapeutic items to enhance learning-disabled children’s schooling.

The InterContinental Lisbon provided a special breakfast in honor of the “heroes” of our nation who tirelessly work to uphold the interests of the community and are always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

Maarten Drenth, Area General Manager Portugal recognized the vital role of fire fighters as true heroes in supporting communities and citizens and says, “We thank the operatives of the 1st Battalion of the Lisbon Firefighters Regiment, for what they are, and for what they give! Together, Let’s Go Further! Together We Make the Community.”
