While speaking at the 17th Annual Global Wellness Summit on 9th November in Miami, USA, Krip Rojanastien, the Chairman and CEO of Chiva-Som International Health Resorts, talked about his idea for the brand with the international wellness community, hospitality and tourism professionals.

Entrenched in the concept that wellness must go in tandem with sustainability, Krip explained about the pressing need for change to emphasize the twin challenges of this high-tech world, with climate and human health hazards – and how they are symbiotically connected to each other.

Krip said that man infused climate change is creating issues starting right from water scarcity and all its associated health threats to ocean’s acidification, through insidious microplastics, is intimidating the biodiversity, marine life, as well as human health.

The data of the World Health Organization shows that almost all the global population, almost 99 percent breathe air that has surpassed the limits of WHO guideline and contains high levels of pollutants. A fragmented food system gives freedom to the industrial crop farming and intensive animal husbandry, separating consumers from the food chain, increasing obesity, and the dangerous illnesses it creates are at record levels in countries worldwide.

The insistent necessity is to tackle the challenges facing humanity drives Chiva-Som’s belief in building wellness for long-term.
