In 2022, we witnessed a resurgence in travel, and the year 2023 has propelled us even further beyond conventional boundaries. It’s been a remarkable journey towards achieving unparalleled levels of connectivity and efficiency. The success story of IntrCity SmartBus network perfectly encapsulates this transformation. Leveraging technology and consumer insights to expand its fleet, the company has achieved phenomenal financial growth in FY 23–24, poised to surpass revenues of 300 crore. Notably, there’s been an 80% increase in net contribution and the attainment of EBITDA-level profitability. This isn’t just a testament to improved customer-brand relationships but also underscores our financial resilience.

Our dedication to providing an efficient, eco-friendly, and customer-centric travel experience has driven us to become the world’s first mobility company to openly disclose our fleet’s on-time performance. We take pride in our dominant market presence on crucial routes in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, connecting with approximately 2.4 lakh travelers weekly and covering over 10 million passenger-seat-kilometers each month.

IntrCity boasts the nation’s youngest fleet, having added nearly 120 state-of-the-art buses this year alone. With plans to introduce an additional 250 buses in the upcoming year, our commitment to delivering exceptional service remains steadfast.

This remarkable progress underscores our unwavering commitment to enhancing the inter-city bus travel experience. IntrCity has spearheaded industry innovations with in-bus telematics, live tracking, well-equipped washrooms, secure boarding lounges, and expertly trained crews. Our focus remains on advancing this journey of technology-driven growth and innovation as we move into 2024.

While the expansion of road networks has provided significant momentum to the industry at both national and state levels, the private bus sector has encountered challenges due to a complex regulatory environment and insufficient critical infrastructure necessary for consumer adoption. This includes private bus stations, fleet parking and maintenance facilities, and proper boarding/drop-off points for passengers. The majority of public spending is directed towards airport development, hindering the growth of the private inter-city bus segment. Simplifying policies concerning this sector could facilitate quicker adoption of public transport over private cars.

Our vision for the upcoming year is crystal clear: to craft a shared public travel realm that’s environmentally sustainable, efficient, accessible, and more enjoyable for everyone. We aim to set a new standard in the way inter-city travel is experienced and perceived in our daily lives.
