Earlier this week at the time of a historic visit to Saudi Arabia, the tourism minister of Israel said that it’s the travel sector that can melt the cold relations between the two countries. The visit of Haim Katz marked the most senior member of the government of Israel to come to the Gulf kingdom.

The two-day stay of Katz to take part in an event of the United Nations World Tourism Organization comes as the U.S. negotiates a contract that would see for the first time Saudi Arabia and Israel setting up diplomatic relations.

Katz said in the statement that tourism acts like a bridge between the two countries. Tourism collaboration has the possibility to bring them closer and herald financial success.

Katz’s declaration is almost the same as to what the tourism minister of Saudi said at the time of attending the same conference.

Ahmed Al Khateeb explained in a statement that for the first time, there is a delegation from Israel here in the country. He hopes that they were welcomed well. He also said that everyone in the room understands that tourism acts like a bridge between people and cultures.

The Saudi crown prince last week also stated in an interview with Fox News that the two countries are getting near to each other to normalize relations.
