ITA Airways, the national carrier of Italy, and All Nippon Airways (ANA), the largest Japanese airline, inked a codeshare agreement to seamlessly link their networks. Travelers can now purchase codeshare flights between Italy and Japan through the official websites of the respective airlines, www.ita-airways.com and https://www.ana.co.jp/en/jp/, as well as via reservation systems and travel agencies.
This fresh commercial collaboration is poised to offer expanded travel options for customers, leveraging the improved connectivity through their primary hubs, Rome Fiumicino and Tokyo Haneda. Commencing January 24, passengers of both ITA Airways and All Nippon Airways will enjoy the convenience of traveling to their chosen destinations with a single ticket, completing check-in at the departure airport, and retrieving their baggage at the final destination airport.
As part of this partnership, ITA Airways will affix its “AZ” code to flights serving five domestic Japanese destinations (Sapporo, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Okinawa, and Itami), while All Nippon Airways will apply its “NH” code to ITA Airways’ flights between Tokyo and Rome, as well as to five Italian destinations connected to Rome Fiumicino Airport (Bologna, Venice, Turin, Florence, Naples). The potential for an expanded collaboration is being explored, with the consideration of adding more codes in the near future.
Beyond the convenience for travelers, this agreement aims to strengthen the economic and commercial ties between Italy and Japan. Additionally, it presents an opportunity for Italian tourists to explore the diverse attractions of Japan and facilitates easy travel for Japanese citizens to Italy, ensuring the highest safety standards.
For ITA Airways, this collaboration with All Nippon Airways marks its 34th codeshare agreement, a significant achievement within just over two years since the company’s inception.
