Japan Airlines (JAL) has entered into a global partnership agreement with Major League Baseball (MLB). Since 2003, when JAL signed an image character contract with Hideki Matsui following his transfer to MLB, the airline has consistently supported prominent Japanese players, including Shohei Ohtani and Masanori Yoshida. The rise of Japanese athletes in MLB has led to a growing number of Japanese baseball fans traveling to the United States to witness games firsthand, many choosing to fly with JAL.

Looking ahead, JAL plans to collaborate with MLB to bring fans closer to the excitement of professional baseball. As an official sponsor, the airline is committed to enhancing fan experiences, particularly during the MLB Tokyo Series presented by Guggenheim. This event, featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs, marks the opening games of the 2025 MLB season and will take place from March 18–19, 2025. To support this initiative, JAL is organizing promotions in both Japan and the United States, highlighting its extensive flight network.

As part of the collaboration, JAL will launch the “JAL MLB Tokyo Series Boarding Campaign,” running from December 2024 to February 2025. Passengers who take two domestic flights with the JAL Group during this period will have the opportunity to win exclusive prizes through a lottery. Prizes include tickets to the MLB Tokyo Series opening games and special travel packages, such as the “JAL Dynamic Package,” featuring JAL Group flights. This campaign encourages domestic travel for year-end holidays, New Year celebrations, and homecoming visits.

MLB, the leading professional baseball league, comprises 30 teams across the United States and Canada, making it the oldest professional sports organization in North America. Under the leadership of Commissioner Robert D. Manfred Jr., MLB continues to emphasize its social responsibilities and global influence. The league is dedicated to growing the sport through business innovation, marketing strategies, and community outreach initiatives worldwide.

In recent years, MLB has achieved remarkable milestones, including record-breaking viewership and engagement on MLB.TV. The league’s digital platforms and MLB Network have further strengthened its global presence, ensuring baseball remains accessible and enjoyable for fans across the globe. As America’s national pastime, MLB is continually embracing new opportunities to connect with a diverse, international audience.
