A Jet2 aircraft en route from Leeds Bradford Airport to Fuerteventura had to execute an unplanned emergency landing due to a detected malfunction shortly after it took off. This incident occurred just after 09:00 BST on a Thursday, prompting the plane to reroute to East Midlands Airport (EMA).

Officials at EMA confirmed the event, stating that the emergency landing was conducted according to their established safety protocols.

Jet2 announced that the plane made a secure landing, and arrangements were being made to move passengers to an alternative aircraft for their journey.

On Thursday morning, an emergency landing was necessitated at East Midlands Airport, which was managed following the airport’s emergency response guidelines.

Efforts are underway to facilitate the onward travel of the passengers impacted by this delay.

The flight, designated LS249, bound for Fuerteventura from Leeds Bradford, diverted to East Midlands Airport due to a reported minor issue. The airline ensured a safe landing and is preparing to transfer the affected travelers to another plane to reach their intended destination.
