UNWTO: Jordan ranked as the 9th best tourist getaway worldwide

Jordan was ranked ninth among the top tourist destinations worldwide by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).

After the pandemic Middle East has seen growing numbers of travellers visiting Jordon’s unique attraction and rich cultural heritage.

Jordon has recorded a remarkable growth rate of 23 percent in visitor numbers surpassing the pre-pandemic rate of 2019. 


Jordon’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities tried to haul up the tourism sector and alleviate the consequences of the global pandemic by implementing various fundamental measures.

At the same time, the ministry has credited this accomplishment to His Majesty King Abdullah and HRH Crown Prince Hussein who directed the government to emphasize on tourism sector for economic development.

The ministry of Jordon added that the course of action taken by the government in partnership with the private sector and the concerned entities had a significant impact on the effort to captivate large numbers of travellers.


The ministry said in a statement that Jordan has shown a remarkable achievement during the first eight months of the current year of 2023, with 4,503,537 visitors. It has seen an increase rate of 41.9 percent compared with the same period in 2022.

According to data issued by the Central Bank, tourism revenues have reached JD3.651 billion. The number of visitors visiting Jordan is groundbreaking compared to previous years.
