Indian travelers show rising interest in global destinations, with non-metro cities leading a surge in searches for places like Israel, Europe, and the Gulf.

Indian travelers are increasingly turning their attention to international destinations, with consumer search trends revealing a significant rise in interest in overseas travel. A recent analysis by Justdial, tracking search data between January 2023 and August 2024, highlights a 17% nationwide increase in travel-related queries. This surge underscores the growing demand for diverse leisure and exploration experiences beyond India’s borders.

One of the most notable trends is the sharp rise in searches from non-metro cities, which outpaced those from metro areas. In 2023, non-metro cities recorded a staggering 129% increase in searches related to international travel, followed by a 126% jump in 2024. This shift indicates that wanderlust is spreading rapidly in smaller cities, with more people from these areas showing interest in global travel opportunities.

Popular travel destinations include Israel, the Gulf, Europe, Australia, Japan, Schengen countries, and Turkey. These regions have seen a sharp increase in search interest, reflecting Indian travelers’ curiosity for new and diverse destinations.

Alongside this growing interest, demand for professional travel services has also risen. Many travelers are now seeking the assistance of travel agents, international tour packages, and visa services to simplify their trip planning. Regions such as Lucknow, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai showed particularly high search volumes for places like Israel and the Gulf, indicating localized travel preferences.

Despite global news around certain destinations, Indian travelers continue to explore places like Israel, signaling a shift in consumer sentiment towards unique travel experiences. The steady rise in international travel interest points to a positive future for outbound tourism from India, with expectations of continued growth.
