Lufthansa Wins World’s Best First Class Dining Award at Skytrax 2026 Airline Awards in London

Lufthansa has been awarded the honor of having the world’s best first class on board dining by Skytrax, the prestigious airline rating agency. The World Airline Awards ceremony was held in London. Skytrax conducts a worldwide passenger survey and evaluation of over 24.8 million passengers from more than 100 countries to rate various airline services. This year’s results showed that Lufthansa deserves the recognition for having the world’s best first class dining on board their aircraft.

Luxury Fine Dining Above the Clouds

Lufthansa’s First Class culinary experience has been elevated through a collaboration with two-Michelin-starred chef Christoph Kunz and catering specialist gategourmet, creating a refined dining journey at 35,000 feet. Skytrax also recognised the exceptional service delivered by Lufthansa’s First Class cabin crews, whose knowledge, attention to detail and precision in preparing and presenting meals play an important role in shaping the overall premium dining experience.

Since March 2026, passengers travelling on flights departing from Germany have enjoyed an upgraded fine-dining concept featuring a broader choice of dishes and greater flexibility to personalise their onboard menus. The enhanced offering includes Lufthansa’s signature caviar service, an extensive gourmet breakfast selection and a premium champagne range. For the first time, Lufthansa First Class now features a permanent prestige champagne, La Grande Dame by Veuve Clicquot, adding another exclusive element to the luxury experience. The dining journey is further enhanced by an award-winning wine programme, refreshed every month by a team of specialists that includes four Masters of Wine.

The upgraded First Class dining concept forms part of Lufthansa’s wider Future Onboard Experience (FOX) initiative, designed to improve the passenger journey across all travel classes. Alongside new-generation aircraft, the Allegris cabin concept and redesigned lounges, FOX represents Lufthansa’s ongoing investment in delivering a more premium, personalised and innovative travel experience.
