Athanasiou steps down as Norwegian Cruise Line’s chief sales officer in June, said the separation was mutual and due to her will to delay getting a Covid-19 vaccination. Athanasiou drives the luxury line’s sales strategy in the Americas across all channels at Silversea as she’s a perfect fit for that role.
Athanasiou said she’s thrilled to get back doing what she loves for a brand and experience she has so much passion for alongside the best in the industry. Barbara Muckermann (Silversea Chief commercial offer) said Athanasiou proven record of developing strong partnerships to deliver successful sales strategies is invaluable as Silversea continues on an ambitious growth trajectory.
The line takes delivery of three ships since summer 2020 and ordered two hybrid ships in its Project Evolution class. Athanasiou and Mark Conroy (Silversea managing director of the Americas) worked together for 21 years ago at Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, a luxury line that’s Regent Seven Seas Cruises now.
