Kaziranga National Park in Assam, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has achieved a historic milestone by recording its highest tourist turnout in 20 years. Renowned for its iconic one-horned rhinoceros, the park is now drawing attention with an enchanting new highlight: the river dolphins of the Brahmaputra.

From October to December, Kaziranga welcomed over 1.64 lakh visitors, reflecting an exceptional rebound since its reopening in October. This resurgence comes after the park faced devastating floods during the monsoon season. Thanks to its resilience and innovative tourism initiatives, Kaziranga has successfully rejuvenated its charm.

A standout feature of this record-breaking season has been the introduction of boat safaris along the Brahmaputra River. These unique excursions offer visitors an extraordinary opportunity to observe the endangered river dolphins in their natural habitat. Although the Brahmaputra has long been central to Assam’s cultural and ecological identity, its potential as a tourism magnet has only recently been tapped.
