Kaziranga National Park, visitors,

Kaziranga National Park hits a record with an influx of visitors and a surge in revenue, marking its best year since opening in 1974.

Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, a jewel among India’s wildlife sanctuaries, requires no elaborate introduction. Famed for its population of one-horned rhinos and majestic Bengal tigers, the sanctuary witnessed an unprecedented rise in both visitor numbers and income during the 2023-24 fiscal year.

Official data reveals that Kaziranga entertained 327,493 visitors in the last year, with a significant majority of 313,574 being domestic tourists, complemented by 13,919 international guests. This activity translated into a total income of INR 88,184,161.

This marked an increase from the 314,796 tourists who visited in the 2022-23 financial year, which had generated INR 83,385,383 in revenue. An official highlighted this growth in tourism and financial gain as a historic peak since the park’s establishment in 1974, despite its original founding date being in 1905.

In 2023-24, Kaziranga National Park in Assam set new records for visitor attendance and revenue generation. Renowned for its stunning vistas, rich biodiversity, and signature species, the park has also been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, increasingly becoming a preferred spot for family outings and wildlife aficionados, as per recent reports.

The 2021-22 season was also fruitful, attracting 275,000 visitors and amassing a revenue of INR 6 crore during the October to May tourist season. Typically, the park draws about 180,000 visitors each year, underscoring its enduring appeal and importance as a conservation success story.
