Kenya launches policy to guide the growth and recovery of tourism

Kenya launched a policy to guide the growth and recovery of the tourism divisionfor the next five years, said Najib Balala, the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.


Balala said that the plan sketchesa blueprint of actionthat has been developed around the four pillars that will helptoward changing Kenya into a prized tourist destination in Africa.


Balala said that the plan aims toreposition Kenya’s brand, developing new and prevailingmarketsand coming up with new tourism products and experiences and improving enablers to further reinforce the tourism industry of the country.
As per Kenya government data, international tourist arrivals reached 870,465 last year, fetching around 146 billion shillings or around $1.25 billion in revenue.


The plan also provides a guide to advertise the experiences and tourism products in Kenya.


Balala said that Kenya will focus on upholding itsbeautiful nature and wildlife, adventure and sports, cultural communities and its cities to both foreign and domestic tourists.


The strategy occupies an important part of the Kenyan ministry of tourism’s task to speed up economic transformation of communities by providing solutions and giving rise to new opportunities for growth in tourism.


Balala said that there are many challenges and difficult environment. But still, the country’s tourism sector has made a lot of progress toward developing practical agendasto provide unforgettable visitor experiences.
