Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia’s premier purpose-built venue, welcomes the recent government announcements surrounding domestic travel.

The success of tourism bubbles to fully revive the country’s economic sectors based on the National Recovery Plan (NRP), on the back of its closure as a mega vaccination centre (PPV) is also a commendable step.

Over 800,000 people of Kuala Lumpur were vaccinated at the Centre between 7 June and 22 September 2021.

The Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri announced on Sunday the much anticipated update allowing domestic and overseas travel for all fully vaccinated Malaysians from 11 October.

Alan Pryor, General Manager, said that this is certainly a reflection of the collective effort by all Malaysians in battling the COVID-19 pandemic. Such positive news will steer towards the full resumption of business events (BE) in the near future.

The business events industry, as detailed in the NRP, is currently slated to re-open in Phase Four, resulting in the prevailing temporary closures of most of its supply chain.

As part of its readiness strategy, the Centre recently became the first venue in Malaysia to acquire the “Safe Business Events (BE)”, a hygiene label by Bureau Veritas.

This serves as a reassurance and guarantee towards the Centre’s expertise in providing a safe, controlled and regulated event environment by way of compliance to and implementation of the government-approved SOPs.

The safety and hygiene level of the venue is further enhanced by additional finer filters in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system to regulate and maintain good air quality within the centre.

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) is an award-winning facility wholly owned by Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre SdnBhd which in turn, is owned by KLCC (Holdings) SdnBhd, a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS).

The Centre is proudly managed by Convex Malaysia SdnBhd, a joint venture between KLCC (Holdings) SdnBhd and ASM Global.

The Centre is accredited with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, EarthCheck Silver and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certified. As an ASM Global venue, the Centre also tracks its monthly environmental performance metrics related to Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Water Consumption and Waste Reduction via the AEG 1Earth programme.

The five-level facility encompasses a total 33,659 sq. m of flexible multi-purpose function space in the heart of the iconic Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) precinct and has maintained and evolved its world-class status through ongoing and rigorous investment, maintenance and management expertise.

Facilities include two auditoria; 3,000-seat Plenary Hall and Plenary Theatre for 470, a Grand Ballroom which seats 2,000 diners, Banquet Hall for 500, three Conference Halls, eight Exhibition Halls and 23 meeting rooms.
