Knysna in South Africa celebrates World Tourism Day with emphasis on eco-tourism

In celebration of World Tourism Day on September 27, Visit Knysna, CapeNature, Garden Route National Parks, Knysna Municipality, and the Knysna Basin Project hosted an event in Knysna Hollow in South Africa.


The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of the importance of eco-tourism in Knysna, a town renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, varied ecosystems, and abundant biodiversity.


Speakers at the event were Dr. Rabiah Ryklief, Jessica Seath of the Knysna Basin Project, Pam Booth, the manager of environmental development for the Knysna Municipality, Jene Contador, a SANParks ranger, and Thulani Ndlovu, the conservation manager for Goukamma National Park.


They imparted their knowledge and experiences on the value of biodiversity preservation, the advantages of sustainable tourism for local people, and other related topics.


Participants had the chance to stroll through the gardens of the Knysna Hollow Estate, taking in the beauty of the surroundings and learning about local plant species.


The purpose of this was to foster a generation of environmentally responsible travelers and promote environmental responsibility.
