On March 29, Korean Air marked its 45th year of operations in New York with a celebration. The airline organized a special event at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to commemorate this milestone. One of the notable moments was honoring the 45th passenger who checked in for Korean Air’s flight KE082 bound for Seoul Incheon. This lucky passenger received a Prestige (business) class round-trip ticket between Seoul Incheon and New York as part of the festivities.

“What a delightful surprise this is for me,” said Jihyeon Kim, winner of the business class round trip tickets. “I’ve been flying with Korean Air my whole life, and I’m excited to continue doing so.”

Passengers aboard flight KE082 were gifted a specially crafted tote bag in collaboration with the Korean Association of New York Artists (KANA), a non-profit cultural organization supporting young Korean-American artists and fostering cultural bonds between nations.

Since its inaugural flight on March 29, 1979, Korean Air’s KE008 from Gimpo Airport to New York JFK Airport via Anchorage has played a crucial role in linking Korea and the U.S. Initially offering three weekly flights, the service expanded to 10 times a week by 1986 due to increasing demand.

Presently, Korean Air operates 14 weekly round-trip flights, underscoring its dedication to enhancing travel and economic connections between Korea and the U.S. In 2023, 417,920 passengers traveled on this route, making it the airline’s second most popular U.S. route after Los Angeles. With wide-body aircraft like the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8i, Korean Air ensures passengers enjoy top-notch service and comfort.
