Las Vegas Sands has donated $100,000 to Dress for Success® (DFS) Southern Nevada through Sands Cares. This contribution is aimed at supporting the organization’s efforts to provide free business styling and workforce development services to women facing unemployment and underemployment challenges.

The funding specifically targets enhancing organizational capabilities in key areas like job readiness, career coaching, mentorship, styling services, and financial literacy programs. These resources are crucial for women seeking assistance in securing meaningful employment and achieving economic independence.

DFS Southern Nevada is a local affiliate of a prominent global nonprofit dedicated to empowering women in the workforce. Since its establishment in 2009, DFS Southern Nevada has assisted over 13,000 women from diverse backgrounds in their journey towards economic independence by offering a supportive network, professional attire, Essential tools for achieving success in both professional endeavors and personal life.

One of the organization’s flagship initiatives, the Styling for Success program, provides personalized suiting and styling services to address immediate needs for appropriate interview and work attire. This program not only equips women with suitable clothing but also boosts their self-confidence and professionalism, crucial elements for successful interviews and career advancement. Services under this program include consultations, fitting sessions, and curated outfits tailored to industry standards.

Additionally, the Sands Cares contribution supports DFS Southern Nevada’s financial literacy programs, which aim to bridge knowledge gaps among underrepresented minority women, who form a significant portion of the nonprofit’s clientele. These programs, offered through online and in-person courses, cover essential topics like budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management.

Moreover, the Sands Cares donation facilitates other capacity-building initiatives such as acquiring software tools for resume building and career assessments, upgrading DFS Southern Nevada’s Career Center with advanced hardware and software for virtual mentorship and training sessions, and creating new group learning, networking, and mentoring opportunities across various industries in Las Vegas.

During March, Sands once more joined DFS Southern Nevada’s Your Hour, Her Power initiative as part of Women’s History Month 2024. This campaign not only raises funds for the nonprofit but also offers support and motivation to underprivileged women striving to achieve their professional aspirations. Women leaders from Sands contributed uplifting messages for DFS Southern Nevada’s social media drive, and the company’s EmpowHER Team Member resource group organized a clothing collection drive to aid its beneficiaries.
