London Stansted Airport is preparing to host its annual spring job fair, offering hundreds of job opportunities as it readies itself for the upcoming summer rush. The fair, featuring almost 50 participating airport companies, is scheduled for Thursday, March 7, from 10am to 2pm at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

Attendees will find approximately 200 job openings with MAG Stansted, the entity managing the airport, along with vacancies at firms including Ryanair, Titan Airways, Border Force, Jet2.com, World Duty Free, Harrods Aviation, and National Express.

As the largest single site of employment in the East of England, boasting over 12,000 employees, the airport is expanding its workforce in anticipation of a busy summer. This follows a record passenger count exceeding 28 million in 2023.

London Stansted Airport organizes two job fairs annually, one each in spring and autumn, to recruit for these expanding opportunities. Additionally, the Employment and Skills Academy team participates in various recruitment events year-round, including an upcoming appearance at the Tottenham Hotspur job fair on February 29, to promote careers at the airport.

MAG’s Group Head of Education and Skills, Marcella MRabety, said:

“Airports offer loads of variety and bags of opportunity, and an employment and skills team that is there to support you. The roles available are perfect for people with strong people skills, a drive for success, and an interest in building an exciting career in aviation.”

“Those who land roles can also take advantage of significant additional benefits including up to 80% off public transport, discounts on airport retail and free holiday parking plus access to dozens of free skills and training programmes.”

One of the roles being advertised will be Aviation Security Officer with the airport’s operator, MAG Stansted.

Jane Long, London Stansted’s People Director, said:

“Whether you are working on the airfield or screening thousands of people at the busy search areas, an Airport Security Officer never has a dull moment. As part of this exciting role, officers are required to conduct searches of passengers and their baggage, as well as assist all types of travellers, from business executives to families.

“If you don’t have any previous airport experience, don’t worry, a comprehensive training program has been designed to ensure all successful applicants have the skills, knowledge and confidence to perform this vital role. A pro-active attitude, enthusiasm and an ability to provide excellent customer service are all that’s needed.”

The Academy will be present at the job fair, showcasing its complimentary pre-employment assistance programs. These include certified training opportunities for individuals receiving job seeker’s allowance, offering them the necessary support prior to job applications.

Recently, after participating in an airport job fair, Gosling Jenkins from London signed up for a course with the Academy. Having completed the program successfully, he has since been employed by MAG as a driver.

“Coming to the Stansted Academy was a whole new journey for me, leaving my comfort zone, because I didn’t know anything about working at an airport. As soon as I stepped into the aviation environment, something in me began to feel excited about the journey ahead, and the Academy helped me prepare for that journey,” said Gosling.
