Recent research has positioned London at the pinnacle of European destinations for culinary enthusiasts, boasting an impressive tally of 2,906 5-star accolades for its diverse array of dining establishments, ranging from quaint cafés to luxurious restaurants. The research, conducted by the Dutch lifestyle publication Dailybase, delved into Tripadvisor’s extensive database, evaluating the 5-star feedback for dining spots across European metropolises. This exhaustive analysis spanned 193 cities, providing a comprehensive leaderboard based on the available Tripadvisor insights.

The findings showcased London’s unparalleled appeal for gourmands, celebrating its vibrant gastro scene that includes everything from classic pubs offering hearty British fare to high-end eateries boasting Michelin stars. London’s unique blend of traditional and contemporary culinary offerings makes it an ideal locale for epicurean adventures.

Trailing closely behind London, Paris secured the second spot with 2,898 5-star reviews, a testament to its gastronomic excellence. The French capital is revered for its iconic dishes, including escargot and entrecôte, savored in the city’s esteemed bistros and cafés.

Barcelona claimed the third position, amassing 1,475 5-star ratings, indicative of its thriving culinary landscape. Known for its vibrant tapas culture and signature dishes like patatas bravas and paella, Barcelona offers a dynamic food scene that captivates food lovers.

Rome, taking fourth place with 1,407 5-star endorsements, is celebrated for its authentic Italian cuisine. Visitors are encouraged to explore beyond the street food and experience traditional dishes such as pasta carbonara and cacio e pepe in Rome’s esteemed eateries.

Athens, ranked fifth with 1,403 5-star reviews, is lauded for its delectable Greek cuisine, including souvlaki and moussaka, offering a rich taste of local culinary traditions.

Madrid, positioned sixth with 1,395 5-star ratings, shines with its traditional Spanish dishes, notably cocido madrileño, showcasing the depth of Spain’s culinary heritage with two cities making the list.

Seventh place went to Lisbon, with 1,177 5-star reviews, celebrated for its seafood dishes like bacalhau and a variety of clam and sardine recipes, not forgetting the beloved pastel de nata.

Berlin, in eighth place with 1,074 5-star ratings, offers a unique culinary experience with dishes such as currywurst and boulette, reflecting Germany’s rich food culture.
